Track Season Begins

Track season has officially begun! I can't believe that the school year has come to this point.......it's 4th quarter!

With this comes Track and Field and Taylir is participating once again this year, only this year she is competing with the High School instead of the Jr. High. Being that she is a 9th grader she had the option of being on either team and when she went to the High School tryouts, she made the team! She is participating in the 400 and also the high jump. The high jump is her favorite and she does really well at it. So far, her record is 5'0. Last weekend she was the only girl from her school to participate in an 8-school meet and she tied for 5th place. I think this was still a huge thing for her since the majority of the girls she was competing against were Seniors and this was her first year competing at this level. Imagine the progress she will make by the time she is a Senior!

Life is going to get crazy for us again now that track has begun and baseball too. Taylir has 2 track meets usually per week and baseball is usually 2 days a week too. Oh well, it's been a great relaxing winter and we're ready for the spring sports to begin.....BRING IT ON!

Kylie's Sadie Hawkins Dance

Last night Kylie went to the Sadie Hawkins dance at her school. Her date's name was Paul and they went along with Ky's best friend Kenzie and her date Tyler. They had a great time shopping for their matching shirts with sunglasses and going to the dance! Kylie even let Kenzie do her hair! (If you know Kylie, that is something to be said!!)
I can't believe that Kylie is literally a few months away from graduating High School! Where has all the time gone?!? I don't think I like the idea of having my baby girl out in the grown up world. To me, she should forever be my baby under my wings to protect and keep safe. I'm not the best mom at letting my kids spread their wings and fly, but I better get use to it! They are all on the verge of doing that.....my baby Carson will graduate from elementary school at the same time as Kylie graduates high school!
I'm proud of the young woman Kylie has become and the choices she has made getting her to this point in life. She's not your typical girly girl but she's MY KYLIE GIRL!

The Grand Concert

Tonight Taylir and Colton took part in The Grand Concert, put on by their Jr. High's Music Department. This concert featured the Wind Ensemble, Chamber and Concert Choirs, Advanced Percussion and Advanced Orchestra. Taylir is in Advanced Orchestra, playing the violin and Colton is in Wind Ensemble playing the oboe.
I have to admit that I was blown away by tonight's performance. It was far beyond what I expected at a Jr. High level.
I am so proud of them both for their dedication to their music....a lot of time is spent practicing (some days they are bears about it though - they are teenagers!) Listening and seeing them tonight made all the miles logged driving to and from lessons TOTALLY worth it too.
Way to go Taylir and Colton....I love you both!

Of course I got to the concert without my camera and had to make due with my cell phone, so the pictures were extremely grainy and I am only posting this one.
